Linguistic representations of identity. Sociolinguistic models and historical linguistics @ Bergamo | Bergamo | Lombardia | Italy

The International Conference Linguistic representations of identity. Sociolinguistic models and historical linguistics aims at illustrating and discussing the final results of the PRIN national research project coordinated by Piera Molinelli (Università di Bergamo). The main purpose of this project has been to investigate the dynamics of the relationship between identity and otherness by focusing on ancient languages ranging from the Mediterranean area to India, and on the main linguistic and socio-cultural traits of the communities where the same languages were used. These research topics have been addressed by combining historical linguistics, sociolinguistic and ethnolinguistic methodological and theoretical approaches. Members from all the Research Units, namely, Bergamo, Cagliari, Siena, Pisa, Viterbo, Roma Sapienza and Pescara, will take part in the Conference.
